tbh i think the way i interpreted it is that souji was conditioned from a young age that the reason for his existence was to reproduce and spread his genes, must’ve been a shocker to find that the person he fell in love with wasn’t able to have kids - but it seemed like he still wanted to be with ohara regardless? and ohara rejected him because he felt guilty and souji was already unconfident in swaying from the rules of his life so they ended up splitting up? and souji continued living life so empty and figured this was the correct way of being alive (otherwise all the years he spent living this way has gone to waste) and he’s been passing this trauma onto akira and sougo without realising it. seems like generational trauma to me - not to justify it, but i understand his character and actions kind of? the writing kinda hard to understand tbh
The father's back story is funny to me because they are done usually to add more depth to a character but given his backstory, it only made me dislike him more. After him being denied being able to be with the person he wanted, and the person he wanted being deemed less because he was infertile. He went after Akira and treated his own son as a breeding machine.
