Why do Arthur's do that!? Even if she thought it wouldn't do any good, she should've said something. The mom could hold that against her later, that she never told her as an excuse.

If her mom had actually shown an ounce of care, Stefie probably would have said something to her mother. But it is clear that her mother only has eyes for Angelica. It’s kind of like in the Termanilly Ill Extra, she actually did try to tell her family that she was terminally ill, but they were too focused on her younger sister to care. And later on when they chased after her and she told them again that she was sick; they still blew her off (ML really wanted to kill the dad).

It’s sad, but there are parents who just can’t see what’s happening to their other child(ren), and while it’s a nice thought to try and talk to them… sometimes all you can do for yourself is walk away.

I understand that. But the mom seems like the type where she would try to use it against her later to make an excuse for herself pertaining to that. So she doesn't look as bad of a person. But if she told her, the mom couldn't claim ignorance later. Or at least not rightfully so.
And that's one thing that made me really like the terminally ill extra. She was good at covering her bases.LOL

True, she should have covered her bases. But unlike TIE, Stefie only has 2-3 months left to live, for all she knows, she’s never going to see her mother or sister again. TIE also had a similar expectation, but she also had more time… and she (unlike Stefie) still actually cared a little about certain members of her family.
