yes those things happened. but they should've read more before dropping that review. there is a deeper reason why mc was chosen to repent for his sins. and he will learn that much later. the mc's backstory gives a lot of insight as to why he seems to resent his father. the father is far from perfect, maybe incompetent, but whether or not he deserves condemnation is beside the point. their estrangement is simply part of mc's chara arc, which ties to one of the major themes of the story, which is that all, if not most, humans are capable of repentence, despite their flaws, and we can choose to forgive them. mc included.
