Sadly, police and staff are very dismissive in situations like this in East Asia (? Idk if it’s Asia as a whole or not).

Idk about the whole Asia but I know Japan's police is so much better than my own country's at least. If someone is really in immediate danger I doubt they would just stay quiet. Punishing the perpetrators would be a different matter of course.
