Regarding Cliff (there's some spoiler down here)

I know Cliff is annoying as fuck and honestly every anger and rage aim at him is completely justified. Still, I can't help but pity him anyway because he's literally MADE to be that way, you know? I mean, I read the novel twice lol I like this story a lot, and I came to conclusion that there is nothing he can do to break free from the evil's grip because he was literally chained from the start to finish to that evil. His mere existence is to accomodate whatever heinous thing that evil being desired, literally no other purpose than that. The author influence on him is too strong since he was the original male lead, more than any other characters. Even at the moment when he starts to be able to regain his own autonomy, that bloody evil make sure that he immediately wrote a "pact" so he won't be able to do anything that is against her wishes. That's how vicious this evil bitch really is. Cliff was written to be an obsessed, love-fool jackass who's only purpose in life is to make this evil bitch the "main character" for the rest of his life and ironically, even he gets thrown aside when he is no longer interesting for that bitch (because he is later fully conscious and starts disagreeing with her).

So tl;dr: I'm not excusing any foul things he did but I can't help to sympathize with him ರ_ರ

I fully agree, it’s why I don’t hate his character. I’ve also noticed that he’s kinda like her shield in every situation, before her name comes up his will be up there first. But I’m glad that the ml has realized that lize is the problem even if he doesn’t have proof

Yes, Killian is a secondary male lead there’s less of a hold on him then there is on the male lead plus he’s closer to the fl so I think when she changes things it helps him as well. While cliff is pretty much made to be there for lize whenever however she needs it’s like how the og commenter said so it’s not easy for him to break out of it or even realize it as other characters do. The second he might starts to realize something it will probably get completely rewired back to how she wants him till her affects are weakened

Yes it's because Cliff is the OG male lead, his obsessive character is written solely to cater the OgFL (he literally said "I'll give it to you no matter what you asked for", "I'll be on your side no matter what you did"). Actually it's not only Cliff but everyone else is bound to be chained by what their characters predetermined (by the author), for example like the Duke and Duchess, and Princess Catherine. The extras that didn't appear in the book like Rhynon, Anna, etc are the only ones that have their own conciousness which is why they can see Edith for herself without the author's influence. The only reason why Killian can "break free" from that chain is because Edith's influence on him is getting stronger the more those "conditions" are met. Even then the author is still trying to intervene (by giving him splitting headache everytime he's thinking about Edith, by sending negative voices that influenced his perspective to Edith, etc).

True, he was "written" to be that way. He lives and die only for Lize, he literally has no other purpose (at least until all the conditions are met).
