Love an essay of Sky and Cir
So is it saying that cirrus is toxic for skylar?? as cirrus clouds predict rain and storms. Or does it indicate that skylar is gonna change > get over his trauma but the process brings about thunderstorms? Im kinda scared now, if you look at the title it says LOST in the clouds, it has a negative connotation almost as if skylar is lost rn but will maybe find a way out at the end. I really hope this doesn’t indicate them having to part in the end because of the toxicity, i just want them to work through it and be happy together, especially cirrus. He’s endured too much
Honestly I'm thinking about those things too. But I've came up with 2 different meanings. One just as you pointed and positive one that is maybe about the change for good. Lost in the cloud can be about being lost into someone you fell for. Or being lost but finding your way. Also Cirrus clouds predicting rain and storm in weather can mean change in general, because after every storm sky becomes the clearest and the brightest color of blue. So Cirrus can be also that turbulent thing which is going to clear the sky - change Skylar's life (because Skylar doesn't hide who he is only when he's with Cirrus). Plus, sky would be really boring is there isn't anything going on. Cirrus clouds are actually considered most beautiful and 'magical' ones in the sky. Majority of beautiful optical illusions that we see are thanks to them ( Cirrostratus, Cirrocumulus and Cirrus clouds). They create halos, Sun pillars and Parhelia (sun dogs), they change colors during the day due to reflection, so you cannot turn your eyes from them.
They also just predict change of the weather, since they are the highest layer of clouds, above other 2 layers. The ones that bring the worst weather are Cumulonimbus. So we can also hope that Cirrus is good thing and that their relationship won't crush down. We also can see that Cirrus is somehow calmer and easier to handle when he's with Skylar. Our cloud boy just needs sky to belong to.
Now a bit of a bad feeling. This author also wrote 'Sheep's mask'. Very psychologically dark story, depicting awful abuse. Seems that they like to explore sensitive topics especially in psychological part. 'Lost in the cloud' has a lot of points on it as well. We can see how Skylar is struggling, even being on medication after what happened to him, he's passive aggressive and somehow even self-destructive. Cirrus on the othe hand is aggressive on very calculated way, he's manipulative etc because he's extremely afraid to be left alone so he learned
to manipulate and put up a facade so he appears likeable to others (child in him needs to heal). Both of them suffered abuse, just formed differently after that. With such 2 characters we can't be sure what's going to happen next. Especially since the story is quite realistic when it comes to how things are handled in real life. School bullies exist, bullied ones are ashamed, afraid and angry, professors usually doesn't care, parents are either abusers or passive abusers (not always and not everyone of course, there are also good parents who just don't know how to act etc).
I'm sorry for again such long comment, talking on this theme is just very interesting.
Only thing we can do is wait and see what author prepared for us.
Saw people talking about the names in the comments, my stupid ass though everyone already knew about it. So sorry in advance for my soon to be very neardy comment. It's just so interesting how much thoughts author put into everything.
Skylar has sky in it and Cirrus is cloud, clouds only exist if there's sky (kinda) and the name Lost in the cloud now explain itself.
But what's interesting is the type of cloud Cirrus is.
Clouds of that name are detached, hair-like and found at high altitudes. They are delicate and wispy, with a silky sheen to themselves. In the daytime, they are whiter than any other cloud in the sky. While the Sun is setting or rising, they take on the colors of the sunset being very beautiful color of orange, pink, purple etc. They are totally made of ice crystals and indicate change of the weather, they are related to thunderstorms and rain, also causing warming of the Earth. Some optical phenomenons are related to them.
Thing we were able to see is how Cirrus's eyes are changing colors. When he's sad, angry or lost they are fully darkish green. Meanwhile they turn reddish when he's onto something or when he's, I'll dare to say, looking at Skylar with lust, pretty raw and somehow scary feeling at the same time. Plus with Cirrys it's never calm, whenever he's around we have some turbulence, same as when Cirrus clouds are in the sky predicting rain.
