its the fact that the whole story was about their experience of being genderless but then the author added the endings to the story. i would have really preferred it if it was open ended just for the sake of keeping that core concept intact. i am not here for the romance between a lesbian/gay/straight couple when being nonbinary was so crucial to the story. which they just stayed genderless.
