The one with the knife… is Jesse.

There's something I can't get out of my mind from the beginning.
The one holding a knife on the cover… is Jesse, not Law.
Yes, it might mean revenge. But most likely…. it means Jesse is the real mastermind. As long as we've seen, he's the smartest one.
Is Law really in control of Moritat, or are they still inside a game Jesse invented to forcefully make him feel guilty and, in the end, corner him into his own wishes?...

Good point. You know my stand is that I think they are both messing with each other (I don't mean that I dislike the characters when I say things like that--I just mean neither one is an innocent victim). I think Jesse's knife means something too--and the way he has one eye covered.

I have suspected that may they are half brothers (don't mind me, every time characters look alike I want to make them related). At any rate, I think the "photo-negative" effect of their appearances is on purpose. Jesse's character is more logical and Laws a bit more emotional, but they are both beautiful bastards.

well in Moritat, Jesse was the victim but there is a theory that suggests that almost everything (specifically Law's perspective in Moritat)is quite the opposite of the reality. So yeah your point is a one of the strong possibility.

...I thought they might be brothers too, at some point.

I love this story to the extent I don't really want to speculate on the end, I just want to enjoy the ride, but I can't avoid some superficial impressions, like… the Moritat they are in has not been manipulated by Law but Jesse. He loves Law in his twisted way, so let's suppose he wanted him to believe he's in charge and just went along pretending he's in his hands, but the real creator of the game… it's still him.
Once they will "wake up" into reality, what will Law see, when he watches the man who was willing to show him his own humiliation in order to make him feel completely in control?…

How madly are they "in love" with each other?
Are they at all? Or not? … it's like I still don't want to know.
The author really provides us with a lot of details, but I'm forcing myself to ignore them, I don't want to spoil the sequel. This is a masterpiece, I love it.

I could be wrong--but if it were not revealed, no one would know to tag it. Either way, I want to know who Law's bio-dad is and why his mom is so sure the Browns will never really love and value Law as they do 'one of their own' no matter how they act right now.
