I know this is an old comment but I have to say although it is a bit weird I guess in modern times. It's actually meant as a compliment in some asian countries in families that are more traditional or with the older generation since the culture is very household unit first mentality. I've heard it more than once being said when I was really young, not to me, but it's not really said with bad thoughts and usually said from an older generation to a newer. To me, it kind of signaled that the MC was looking at Aina as someone from a separate generation from him and thus I expected him to treat her like a daughter.
The part where he says "She will become a good wife in the future " really threw me off and disgusted me but since he treats her like a daughter, it turned out fine. He is kinda weird and perverted, though it's not as bad compared to other manga like this, he's still weird. Who the hell blushes when their grandmother hugs them?? Who says that about a kid?? I mean overall, he's a smart merchant but personality wise....ehhhh
