i'm not justifying those acts and i'm not even saying they' right.
i'm saying trauma responses are complex and can also look like this, it's undeniable.
so, you're saying if someone comes to me saying they raped their brother cause they felt like they needed him to feel as shitty as they did (bc they were raped by their father), i should blame them and tell them they're horrible like everyone else is doing here? what kinda therapists did you meet to think this is even something THINKABLE to do
Naw, I just asked that you be cautious about approaching a case the same way you would a study. Sometimes, we forget humans are real, and it sucks for the human being treated as a “cool story” or “interesting theory”.
Everyone’s Free to think and do as they please, but just be aware. There are people out there who don’t have the luxury of viewing things from an outside perspective, and certain actions can be inappropriate.
oh sorry i didn't get that at first
but i don't plan on viewing people as subjects of a research of some kind
i just like how everyone can have different reactions to things and still being "normal" (as in... it makes sense...? for them and for who can relate to them) and i guess that's interesting
but approaching someone is totally different
especially when we're talking about such sensitive topics
that's the very same reason i don't quite enjoy the blacklash on this type of mangas, i think about all the people (probably not most of the readers but still) who read it and have had at least intrusive thoughts about murder, rape and such
and i don't think they should be ashamed of it, it happens and it's okay, it's just a sign you need to work on something
what i mean is just... not everyone can read psychological mangas easily and that's okay, but that doesn't make what we're reading less understandable from characters povs or like just because it's somehow dark doesn't mean the work is badly written
also last but not least thank you for the discussion and for sharing your point of view...? i feel like i was misunderstanding something before :)
Like so many people have gone through so much bad things things are even worse than this and they do not turn around and inflict the pain on others especially if the other person is a child he was a child please stop this nonsense reason he was a child what he did was wrong and I will still blame him that's why the fact that his father did something to him or whatever it doesn't mean that you turn around and then do it so another person many people have gone through so many things with their family and they still end up having good relationship with their own children so please just stop this Rape apology.
Psych major my ass
different trauma responses :)
don't read psychological works if you can't handle dark themes (especially when they're portrayed in such an interesting way)
also i'm not a rape apologist, i'm just saying... his behavior makes sense, it's a trauma response
he's still doing something bad, but i get where this is coming from
both things can exist at the same time
hope that helps
That's what the initial comment was about: the complexity of human psyche.
Not necessarily connected to this manga and not excusing the main characters actions. I don't see that in the comment.
But the majority of readers here are making the commenters out to automatically be child abuse apologists if people are approaching the fictional characters reactions in a less emotional way (it does not automatically shuts off ones sense of ethic and morale).
Well, I mean if you look at it this way instead of being annoyed, it’s a good thing that so many people (myself included) in the comments are appalled and disgusted by this child molester.
I’ll admit that this was a very interesting (and stomach churning) read but gahhdamnn, (and I think I can speak for many ppl in this comment section) I don’t want to sympathize with an individual capable of such horrific acts. And to his own brother, no less. If that makes me ignorant, then I fully accept and embrace that.
But that’s why you (a psych major) are so important to have in these kind of conversations. You give these individuals a voice of unbiased reason and curiosity instead of harsh black and white judgement. And good on you and others in this field for doing the hard part of getting into their diseased minds.
i don't get people criticizing this work.
don't read psychological mangas if you don't wanna read about trauma responses and twisted behaviors, it's not that hard.
not everything needs to be your cup of tea and that's okay, but coming here and saying this guy is a weirdo for doing what he did is dumb; you don't get it and it's okay! but trauma and trauma responses are complex.
as a psychology major, i actually really like the storytelling and i'm curious about how the characters are gonna act from now on.
+ you guys are criticizing the lead's actions but... did you actually read the prequel? like it's not like the other couple's relationship was perfect or the most healthy one, and yet you ate that shit up
