The age of consent only became 16 in 2023. It was 12 at one point but has been 13 for about 15 years. Thats why age-gap relationships weren't seen as a bad thing there for decades.

I’m sorry but can we stop doing romance between a 15 year old and a 21 year old ??? The age of consent is 16 in Japan ! Like ??? WTF ?? The author couldn't have just advanced the age to at least legal age?? (Even if it’s still very disturbing)..
