They aren't. They are neither adopted nor blood related brothers. Rishar calls Etienne 'hyung' because he's an older male who is close to him. The king took care of Rishar during his childhood, but he was never adopted into the royal family.
following up on this, the king knew (was possibly in love with) rishars mom(?) (couldnt tell if it was a male omega or actually a woman from the raws) and thats part of the reason why he wants rishar to be king. he thinks of him as his son, but they are not actually related, and etienne and rishar have no relation to one another.
ohh thanks! i got used to the term hyung as a way to refer older male family members but it slipped my mind that it could also be used in a diff way and i thought etienne’s father did adopt rishar, so i had this whole misunderstanding in my head lol.
