I prefer tv shows over movies too. I have a short attention span and always get bored midway movies. Might consider watching a movie if someone's watching it with me but my friends hate watching stuff with me because I always talk through it. Only movies I'll watch any day are anime movies and the Marvel movies (=・ω・=)
I get you, all of my friends are so into movies. They know the names of actors and actresses, the year a movie came out, the director. Like damn, that's way past a hobby.
But at the same time, it's like how we are with mangas and animes and books and maybe even music. They may not understand our preferences just like you might not understand theirs.
Personally, I definitely prefer books because movies have ruined a lot of my favorite books for me. Imagination is often so much better than reality. When my friends make plans to go to the movies, I usually decline unless it's something I actually am interested in (i.e. Beauty and the Beast coming up!!) and even if they judge me whatever. I enjoy what I enjoy, and having different interests than friends can mean that you're able to share stories of what you've read/watched to each other.
I don't know why I am not fond of watching movies. Ever since i was a kid, i didn't really like watching them. I like to read tho. So when there is a book version of the movie, i prefer to read it instead. Whenever my friends talk about a movie they've watched, how amazing it is, I'm always at a loss because I don't know what they're talking about. Eventually, I'll tell them I haven't seen the movie yet that's why I don't really know what they're talking about, and they're surprised to know that especially whenever the movie that they're talking about is a blockbuster movie. They're usual response would be, "Really?? It's a popular movie tho?" or "What? You're such a loser." I really don't think there is anything wrong with me not watching movies. I do like watching series tho but I really seldom watch movies.
Am I the only one???
