okay although im a lily and anna hater, i do agree with you. the complexity and reality of human feelings and relationships is shown really well but thats not to say that ALL of the storywriting is good. like for example lily and anna have literally no chemistry at all except for a trauma bond like in those shitty yaois. frankly we dont even have a big enough reason to ship the main couple
EVERYONE attacking Lily for “hurting” Anna while not recognising that firstly, Anna, as she admitted, has rejected Lily multiple times (even if it did not reflect her true emotions she still did it) which hurt Lily. Secondly, Lily not only believed that Anna did not want her and rightfully so, but she was also further manipulated by the Duchess. Thirdly, SHE IS A SINGLE WOMAN and frankly can do as she pleases as she never owed Anna the ‘loyalty’ that would arise from an official relationship.
I also feel really bad for Anna, hearing Lily say “I love you” to the Duchess in that context is justifiably triggering and awful. BUT it must be taken into account that she is not the saint in this situation, what I like about rangrari’s work is that she portrays realistically the complexity of human relationships. Every character is in the wrong but also in the “right” in their own way.
