I think so too. The thing is the orange hair reacted to his retaliation totally wrong. Like his feelings were valid, but his behavior was not, and still is not. He feels entitled to mcs attention and totally ignores mcs feelings and prioritises his comfort over the mcs (that is he avoids any discomfort at the cost of hurting mc).
I lowkey think mc liked orange hair to an extent. The only problem was that he felt guilty for judging orange for being gay only to end up being gay himself. Cause he even tells him at one point like he apologizes or whatever.
