I don't think they meant to generalize the continent but rather wanted a remote location far from Asia to show distance.
Could've been the US, Europe or Antarctica, they just didn't want to name a specific location like a town or area I guess.
Need to free Africa from the hands of these authors cos why they be acting like Africa is a specific location
