Of course media can change people's opinion, but an author absolutely cannot control and predict how everyone would interpret their works or how they will form opinions. Therefore, authors should absolutely be allowed to write what they wish without the shackles of "how will people receive this" restricting their freedom. You are allowed to take it however you wish, and dislike it of course, but that shouldn't mean the author is not allowed to create what they desire. I completely understand your point of view, but I disagree.
