That's the point to draw out emotion from the reader they give them a goal or a promise they were unable to accomplish before their death in order to make it sadder

Oh no, please no, please don't, I see it, don't, please don't, I'm getting knight death flags, they gave him more back story, they gave him more screen time, they showed us his convictions, and they showed him having a goal, he isn't a main character..... Do you know what that means it means the Pentagon of death flags is on him and they are setting him up to die(╯°Д °)╯╧╧
