i also meant to say that i feel like the ppl in the comments can’t understand stand this, since they’re just reading weekly updates one at a time. but don’t forget, we are NOT in a romance arc. this is penelope’s survival arc. when considering the mood of the manhwa right now, callisto’s “i’m handsome” comment isn’t all that amusing..

I've read a bit of the novel ahead of the manhwa'a current chapters.
The reason why she is contacting Vinter is to get poison.
Now, I didn't really understand how it went because it was kinda MTL and I read fast, but the older brother had brought Yvonne to Penny's coming of age without the father's knowing so obviously drama went down among the nobles and Penny was devastated by seeing the original game's events unfolding in front of her.
Now, idk if Yvonne had also prepared poison for the occasion or if Penny drank the one Vinter gave her, but there were two cups prepared, for both Penny and Yvonne. One poisoned and one not. I think Yvonne wanted to drink the poisoned one to fault Penny, but the latter drank the poison and collapsed in front of everyone vomiting blood.
During the whole time Vinter was visibly in distress because he knew Penny had poison ready, and had an antidote with him in case anything bad happened. He managed to give her the antidote, because otherwise Penny would've died right there.
Penny spent a while in coma, due to the internal damage caused by the poison, and Callisto was with her all the time iirc. He was the one to run to her first when she collapsed, and I think to notice Vinter's distress, and to let the latter use the antidote on Penny because the family was concerned it might've been something worse instead of an antidote.
Penny eventually wakes up, and I think the first person she sees is a severely sleep deprived Callisto sleeping next to her on a chair.
This is all I can remember, it's been a while
Or she didn't wakeup to Callisto, but someone told her he basically never left her side while her condition was unstable.

i hadn’t read this since the end of the previous season, so i just reread it. at first, i read the second most recent chapter (145) and i was giggling and kicking my feet bc it was so cute!! i was so happy to see penelope and callisto flirting. but upon rereading it, it’s definitely much more dark.
penelope is in a situation where she’s likely going to die in 2 days, and then to be betrayed and cut off from her only chance of survival? on top of that, she finds out that the og female lead is evil and can brainwash people, so now she quite literally cannot trust anyone, so she’s in a constant state of depression while being on guard.
and as for callisto, she knows that it’ll be impossible to raise him rate to 100% in 2 days, even if she accepts his proposal, because he quite literally told her he’s only interested in her because they could cohabitate and support each other, not because of love. and penelope knows that to reach 100%, it has to be feeling of love. she learned from elclis that the rate can be increased to 99% max through other emotions such as obsession (redish-black). and she doesn’t know which other colors will mean a situation like that.
and as for winter, i saw in the comments that some of yall think she’s contacting him to try to make him 100%, but she’s most definitely contacting him about the yvonne being the evil goddess.
so yeah, i get why penelope is so fed up with callisto right now and why she insists on rejecting him. she’s under some serious mental distress. and she’s right. that’s exactly what she should do with callisto. but, i think she should tell him about yvonne. he’s a reliable ally and would help her, but unfortunately, right now she only sees him as a dead end.
