exactly this!!! as far as mc knows, they're best friends, dude is straight, hes taken and about to get married. I wouldn't get any hopes up regardless of how he acts or what he says. I'll keep my self-respect and keep myself away at all cost and find ways to heal.
If i was in that situation i will completely block the guy from my life. Keep my distance as far as possible. I dont like being the other person even though i like them. Once i know that person already has someone, i will do my best to keep myself away. Please be firm in your heart, sir!! Dont be sway by him.
