I feel like Ian had different life experiences yet, but in this kind of story, I believe he will remember his past life as Brian and will be both, Brian/Ian. If you had someone, say a child, that you loved, and they went abroad for many years and came back different from their life experiences, does that mean you wouldn't still love them?
not 'simply', but still reincarnation. And this is a fictional story set in a different world, with dragons and magic and origin differences. So I feel a little like we can't set our boundaries on it. I just feel that Ian will be Brian also. I'm assuming that tho, but that's why this doesn't offend me and why I don't mind the long flashback. I like seeing why both brothers fell in love with him. I usually don't like reincarnation stories where the new love discovers they are drawn to the person because they are a past love. I *think* why this is hitting me different is the brothers have been alive since Brian died, and have been waiting for him. They *knew* he would be in a different body, but that makes me feel as tho they knew he would still be Brian also besides the new person he was born as.
Imagine you were in place of Ian then. You find out you’re some dudes reincarnation, do you think you’re the same person? Would you accept becoming someone else just because you gain their memories? I think it would be more like having knowledge of the past life but not being emotionally involved. It’s like watching a movie.
well, I have different life experiences and beliefs than you do. I believe in reincarnation, I have experienced seeing a past life that I feel very connected to. In fact, if you look up videos and books of people , including children, that remember their past lives, they feel connected to that life, they cry over it and feel emotional about it. They learn to live with it and oft times can move on. But , my personal believe about reincarnation is you are the same soul, so IF you remember your past life/lives, I think you would see they are all you. This is just my opinion.
atp i'm treating the present and flashback as two separate stories bc i love seeing brian and sol together -- i feel like i can understand ian not wanting to feel just like a replacement bc brian and sol truly were so in love with each other
