I mean it's really a diff topic, I partly agree with you but like, irl there are many gay men who strictly bottom or top only.. as well as there are many yaoi in which the bottom is the more masculine one...
You are right noting that's it's the Korean artists cuz I feel like its most likely to meet verses in western stories lol...
My conclusion is that they just really dislike switching roles? They either gotta make them super sub or super dom, the characters appearance choice is subjective to the author tho
Shout out to the few stories that actually include verses in them
There are plenty of queer people who prefer not to switch. It isn't anything unusual. I do think the way this topic is handled in BL bothers me.
I think Chungho and Jun very clearly break that particular stereotype you mentioned. Jun is prettier with more feminine features and Chungho is more on the handsome side. There are a lot of BL with manlier/handsome bottom with prettier/feminine top. BWAT is known for that trope, particularly. It isn't as unusual in today's BL.
Literally what is with bl bottoms never getting to top?? Imma get a little deep here but I think korean artists think the act of bottoming is a little demeaning, and you're somehow lesser if you bottom. They've made these tops all manly and handsome so making them bottom somehow ruins their vision or sth??
It's so weird and twisted like the undertone and the overall message of tops being so adverse to bottoming. They're basically saying only the more feminine one can bottom because usually the women are the bottoms? Weird how you write a queer relationship and still be the perpetrator of gender norms lmao
