I remember having a precious childhood friend, but I can't remember why she was so precious. Our memories may not be as developed when we're kids, and time makes people forget, but that feeling stays with us.

That was traumatic for him. Kids who experience trauma often block out entire chunks and people in their life that are replated to that trauma. It depends more on your capacity to cope and/or how you cope that determines what you block out, if anything at all. He couldn't cope. That's not his fault

Interesting. I know thing, that actually you remember last time you remembered your memory, not the memory itself, so I guess when you stop remembering, you forget about it.
