Just accept the help bro

^_^ May 4, 2024 3:26 am

I understand both of their standpoints.

Especially because I grew up poor in an ethnic household. My dad is also sort of like Woo-wons. (Growing up he’d physically and verbally abuse me, and he doesn’t work. He leeches off of other people.)

Yes, Seo-An does have his own issues and has overstepped several times. But why won’t woowon just communicate about the issues he’s having with his father? Why not just ask for money? If you’re in a relationship where you love your partner, they love you, why overcomplicate things by hiding away your issues?

honestly, I never understand why people in manhwas never accept help from the rich boyfriend or rich friend. I get it, rich people won’t 100% understand the struggles we’ve had to go through. But god. You, person who’s reading this. If you grew up poor like me and struggle every single day with finances, would you realistically turn down any help a rich person is offering you? Because as someone that works a minimum wage job just like woowon? I sure as hell wouldn’t. I barely make enough money to live. Realistically, nobody would decline a rich persons help if they’re poor. I think people who write the “I’m not going to accept your help even if you’re rich!” Stuff have NEVER experienced what it feels like to not have any food to eat, or to wear the same clothes ever week. It’s a grueling feeling that not even the toughest people want to feel.

Because some people still have pride, especially when in front of someone they care about. When you're poor, sometimes all you have left is your self respect. Woo-won wants to be an equal partner, not a kept pet, and to be honest Seo-An treats him that way a lot of the time. Case in point, telling him to care about no one else other than him and assuming he'd move with him without considering the fact that Woo-won has people he cares about in South Korea and his own desires.

I mean yeah, but don’t call people who accept money as losing their pride please. Also let’s not forget seo an (though not in the right whatsoever) is trying to show his love and the way he thinks it should be is solving his boyfriends issues. Yes he should have asked for opinion obviously, but maybe he thinks he is helping him out? I don’t think he thinks of him as a pet, but rather doesn’t know how to express affection other than solving their problems they didn’t even asked to be solved. The part where he assumes he will go with him is messed up, but I think comes from a place of love and caring (but is also selfish don’t get me wrong). AGAIN before u come at me, I do think seoan is in the wrong, but y’all are trying to make him way more of a villain than he is, rather than a flawed person.

I am so sorry you had to go through all that. As a person who grew up in a pretty well off household, Ik I am unable to think the same way as you.
Despite that, I still agree with you. A person who has trouble making ends meet wouldn’t really be like this, pride doesn’t feed you, doesn’t provide you shelter nor does it give respect tbh. A prideful person with any ability to swallow his pride when necessary is just a fool.
But I am sure this isn’t the case for every person tho. Maybe woo won has never experienced the breaking point. unlike you who had to suffer to the point of being unable to eat or have cloths to wear, he had his mother. Sure mental and physical damage was there, but he had someone who he could lean on; both his mom and aunt.

No, but it feels like he is treating him like one when he said to him: “I am the one who decides”.
    That’s just a red flag.

Yeah fair…but I also don’t think it’s a red flag that can’t be changed ya know? Like it’s not as extreme as these other RED AND BLACK FLAGS lol. If ya get what I’m sayin

My point is it’s a red flag, that’s all. But it can definitely be changed if he tries to change, so far he’s just been selfish and arrogant, although he has good intentions, he’s doing it in the wrong way and hurting his partner.

Both are sort of hurting each other but Seo-An more right now. It’s frustrating but we’ll see what happens.

First I want to say thanks for talking to me. So far as the situation with my dad, it’s gotten much better now that I’m older. I don’t let him touch me or even talk bad about me, I’ve learned how to stand up for myself and I’ve told him I would call the cops on him if he ever tries to hurt me again. And once Im 18, I told him he’d never see me again. I’ve definitely had people to lean on IE my mom, and my aunt as well. There was even a point to which I had to move in with my grandparents bc of what my dad was doing to me, but idk. I take pride in myself 100%, but I also know who I am and what I’ve come from, enough to be humble enough to know I need help. I kind of just vented and got side tracked from the actual story, I’m sorry, but I hope Woowon can try to come around to accepting help.

While I see both sides? Like I said, Woowon communicating that he needs Seo-An’s financial help isn’t being less than him. As of right now, Woowon doesn’t even respect himself enough to stand up for himself when it comes to his father.

I know Seo-An has his own issues to work out, he has abandonment issues and that causes him to be controlling. But that wasn’t really the point of my comment. I’m saying, Woowon should’ve just asked for financial help from Seo-An.

If you were hungry and I told you I was going to the store to buy myself food, you’d just choose to stay hungry instead of asking me to get you something? That’s not being prideful nor humble. I’m sorry but that’s just stupid.

People say Woo doesn’t trust Seo-An but it ain’t that exactly, it’s more of insecurity and feeling like a burden especially when he’s lived his whole life relying on himself.

    pennyinheaven May 4, 2024 9:29 pm

Ikr? And it's not just about the money at this point, just how to get rid and cut off from his father. Being in Woowon's shoes, admit you are weak against your father and seek help.

He knows he is weak, unfortunately this is a bit common across Asia countries where children feel the need to provide financial help to their parents so it’s really not easy to break that cycle.

Seo-An did what he felt like he had to do, but it wasnt right and this side of his personality is prob why his exes left him.

Hopefully things go well based off what I saw in raws, spoiler if you didn’t know:

it seems like Woo is standing up to his father. He got upset and left after the argument with Seo, and went to his father. He seems more upset at the father than Seo.

I agree. I’m way younger than woowon but I grew out of that “burden” phase very fast. I’m extremely self aware, so I stopped blaming myself and began blaming the person who was REALLY at fault aka my father. Which is what I hope he does. It’s just an unfortunate situation for Woo, and Seo-An, they’re both less than perfect but I’m sure they’ll understand eachother when everything is said and done.

I'm SEA'n so I am more than familiar with that family dynamics. That is why it is important that someone outside steps in.

Yes Woowon is standing up to his father and all of that is triggered by Seoan's meddling. It's not like Woowon hasn't ever but this time might have more conviction than all of the times he tried to just simply ignore him. Seoan's meddling made a difference.

Im aware his meddling made a difference, but I do hope he apologizes for doing it this way, Woo deserves an apology. This isn’t the first time Seo did something without his consent at first.
