If you wear a costume, underneath it’s still you but on top is something else. The regression is similar where people from the present is underneath the costume and the people from the past is the costume.

However the special thing about these costumes is, once you wear the costumes you are set in a different world. Like a new play. A play that’s made just for the MC.

The reason why daddy had a hard time with his memories is cause he was confused on why he had a costume on, sorta like when people question if we are pieces of a game board in real life.

So his brother died and yoojin made the world go back to 5 years prior. He thought he just went back in time, but what really happened was that the event and memories from 5 years ago kinda go pasted on top of the 5 years after (the time he's from).
So the world itself did not go back in time it just got the memories of 5 years ago pasted on top of it.
That's also the reason why the gate are appearing faster and why the monsters are so strong.

In chapter 80 when the single use item didn’t appear again was because if you use something in the real world you can’t use it again in the play if it’s single use.

The world tree basically makes a bunch of plays, but the depraved made this play just for yoojin.
