The problem is that way too many younger kids are reading these mangas/webtoons and to make it worse, they read them on illegal sites like mangago. It’s normalizing stealing. These webtoons/manags are essentially for people who choose to pay for them with their hard earned money. The authors don’t want them on public websites like mangago where impressionable kids read them. It’s NOT popular media and it’s for people over a consenting age. If a rape, murder or other dark theme was shown, it is legally marked to be read by mature audiences who chose it, people who most likely are not internalizing it. Older audiences can differentiate fantasy, reality, characters, etc much better. They are also supporting authors who are exercising their right to make the art they want. Mature audiences are also able to read a dark or fucked up fantasy and understand that these characters only exist in a fantasy world. They are less likely to internalize something fucked up being shown.

Mature audiences typically are able to understand consent in the real world. Our society (including families, friends, etc) mainly contribute to slut shaming and victim blaming (which make up rape culture). People are taught to slut shame, for example. We also shouldn’t kink shame and blame adults for their fantasies involving other made up adult characters in a fantasy scenario. It’s the parents who should be teaching their kids these things and watching over what they read or do on the internet.

Yes wrong comment but I mostly agree with what you said. A really important fact is that young readers don't really tend to scrutinize what they read. If there is a romantization of for example rape, they wont find anything wrong with it. Especially if it's their first encounter with such topics.

I'm against piracy of content that is available for everyone on the internet. But most manga unless it's superfamous never gets to my country and is not even translated except for the illegal translations o I don't have much of a problem with it

Yes, young readers don’t really scrutinize or even understand the dark nature of romanticization of rape or other violence. They don’t understand Stockholm syndrome. I read it as something very dark while young readers don’t understand it and instead internalize it. They really shouldn’t be reading this stuff. I am talking about as young as 12, it’s really disturbing. Where are the parents.

Yeah, a lot of manags are really hard to get a hold of since they are also not from my country. But the ones that can be bought online, I think people should make an effort to at least buy once in a while. Many forget that this stuff isn’t free or meant to be open access.
