Dakaichi for me. Rough start, I know
I was in 6th grade, and one day I decided that I wanted to start watching anime, so I asked my friend for recommendations. Got a crunchyroll acc and started watching random shit, but he started telling me about something he read. Naturally, I got curious and wanted to read it too, which unfortunately became my first impression of the whole BL genre. Since I was new to all of it, I didn't know how or where to read it, so I paid him to send me chapters. This went on for a few weeks before I got bored of it. I came across mangago and kept reading whatever piqued my interest. Sign, killing stalking, waterside night, etc. Looking back on it, I could've saved myself about 60 bucks if I had done a little digging. Starting there was risky for the both of us (we had VERY protective parents, so we would never see the end of it if we got caught), but overall i don't regret it.
What were you guys first BLs and how did you come to their discovery ?
In middle school, around 2018/2019, my friend introduced me to anime and manga. Being new to the genre, I would read/watch whatever was recommended to me. One day, that same friend suggested BJ ALEX to me. Initially thinking it was a typical story, I became deeply engrossed in it, unaware that it wasn't a shonen like Shingeki No Kyojin. Despite this, I enjoyed it, and my friend and I would discuss it during breaks, with her recommending me various BLs. I recall reading Love or Hate, followed by Love Is An Illusion, Heaven & Hell Roman Company and finally Painter Of The Night when only a few chapters were available. Upon transitioning to high school, I stopped engaging with the genre, only to rediscover my interest upon entering university.
