I do agree that suzume is a very annoying and disagreeable person and at the moment he is not deserving of tobias. But i think his portrayal is very realistic he is a young, selfish, with a big ego, troubled and lost guy who just goes with the flow and it's just now finding a rythm to his daily life instead of doing pop up escapist travels. He has a long way before being called a good guy that actually treats his lover right. I think this manga is refreshing in the sense that it steers away of showing the same green flag ml who doesn't have any development and arc moment. And i think suzume is slowly showing little bits of development in his character. He seems to be reflecting in his past actions and he cares about tobias, but that doesn't mean he can easily quit his selfish tendecies to keeping to himself without considering his lover's feelings.. Having said all that, it threw me off how unhinged he is in the least ideal situations, such as aftersex and during the sex. Like him saying that he considers tobias his god is screaming that we delve more into that and his pysche. The same could be said when he said his job was to have sex with tobias
