D/S is kind of different from S/M, so what you said was kinda more confusing. Doms arent necessarily sadists, they just kinda take charge of the relationship. They like to dominate and to possess, and sometimes, that doesnt necessarily mean to inflict pain and tease their partners. And subs arent necessarily masochists too. They like to let go, let someone take control for them. Some of them dont even like pain and just like gentle play. Like even in the real world, theres a clear distinction between S/M play and D/S play.
