because the story hinted at the fact that the cop is gonna be important in the plot, either gonna save bum or smthg. I mean its better than having the sudden "This is LUV" from the absolutely batshit crazy sangwoo

I think some see the cop as a potential protector--like a knight in blue armor (or is body armor gray?) who rescues the princess.
