I think he did the right thing as a doctor, but he failed him as a father. The whole point he should be criticized for it is because the entire manhwa Family relations of being honest and parents failed their children, but they have this man feeling his child but that’s a good thing because we don’t like his child when it should also be portrayed in a negative way. None of this would’ve happened if he raised his child correctly. We don’t know exactly what happened because they are not the focus but the green guy obviously has issues that should’ve been caught and fixed for lack of a better word by the parent. The green haired guy is a little older then FM and the doctor says that he’s been with him for roughly 15 years so that means he must’ve been what 5, 6, or 7 when he adopted him? Like if some more than enough time to step up as a parent and he failed.
He even says that I’ll always be your parent, but how do you expect the relationship to even continue after this point? Basically giving him a service to justify the abandonment of his child. And it’s not like this is ever explored because of what happens to the green haired guy.
There is also the fact that FM’s Father feels guilt, but the old man is not guilty whatsoever. He’s not even sad. “I’m old. I can’t take this anymore. You’re on your own.”
Nocturne deserves it. Idfc what yall think. Like he treated Karina's life so lightly while hypocritically using his sister's situation as a shield. The doctor did right. He didnt even abandon him plus nocturne was cared for by the doctor ever since they were together. He was cared for so much that's why he never understood much how his actions carry irreversible consequences. He's a doctor. He cant just go around treating people's lives so lightly the way he did in the name of his pedophilic feelings. Nocturne deserved every bit of consequence he receives. Fck him.
Also not @ u defending fl's father when his excuses are clumsy even at best. You want the doctor to coddle nocturne when what he did trivialized karina's condition so much. The doctor's not abandoning him and their situation (karina and nocturne's) is not comparable at all. The doctor is teaching nocturne consequence. As he should. Since it is bc of the lack of understanding of consequence that nocturne acted the way he did. Fck him.
I’m not really defending the Father. I’m just bringing the doctor down to the Father level because yes the situation are comparable now. Is it 100% comparable no, it’s not. But both are being abandoned by their father so yeah. Secondly, he’s not teaching him the consequences of his actions. He’s throwing him away. There’s a difference between “you need to face the consequences. I’m gonna be there with you” and “good luck with your life. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.” So call spade a spade and call the bad father bad father. The doctor is a bad father. Fuck him.
I agree that there should be consequences to his action however, one thing I don’t like in this story and I will never like in any of these stories is the unfair consequences to situations that are unequal. Secondly, I don’t even think it’s really his fault because he has unprocessed trauma from his sisters death. The father should’ve stepped up and helped him. He is a fucking doctor, cure the man.
Third of all, I don’t know the ages of the characters I know he’s older than Karina and she’s younger, but I don’t know the ages specifically because it’s been a while since I read the beginning so if he’s a pedophile then oooo but the point of the matter I’m discussing is more about the way we view characters so it’s a lot less about the character himself and more about what he stands for.
There was a previous comment her who had me sympathize with the doctor a bit more but the way he’s written alone using just manwha gives us, it’s fuck that man until his old ass passes
The first time I read this, I was in love with it. I thought it was great, but we weren’t that far in, but I wanted to see more. Reread, I’m trying to notice hypocritical the people who are supposed to be the “good guys” are. Everyone hates the female lead’s father for neglecting her and never paying attention to her in a way that is becoming of a good parent however, the doctor does that to the green haired man. He says he gave him second chances again and again, however that’s not true because he never actually confronts him. He says something extremely vague and act like the message was perfectly conveyed. “I think of you as my own son, but you can’t stay in your parents embrace” but hates FM’s dad for never embracing her but he never really welcomed him in because he still has very prominent trauma that roots his life, and if he was truly his parent, he would help him through it.
Spoilers
The only reason he does, the thing he does at the very end is because he was thrown away by the man who was supposed to be his father.
The male lead is also kind of awful He constantly makes decisions for Karina and presents them as her own.
I do want to applaud this for even going there because a lot of other manhwa would just make it very black-and-white so the fact that there’s a little bit of nuance is excellent, but doesn’t mean it’s immune to criticism.
