close, but not entirely correct!!! queer baiting is essentially a "marketing technique" where two people of the same gender are depicted to have tones of romantic relations outside of platonic love, though it isn't necessarily proven to be true or false by, let's say, the author, creator, etcetera. usually to attract in queer viewers while still trying to keep their audience outside the lgbt community. sk8 probably isn't the best example for this because some characters ARE queercoded. or so i hear. it isn't really just about two same sex characters being really good friends up to the point viewers start to ship 'em, in this case it would be the same as calling most ships "queer baiting"
