I love how realistic this is. The issue here first and foremost is that they have different love languages and they're unaware of it. They're both young and immature, and it's their first relationship. Because they don't know everyone expressed affection differently, they keep dismissing each other's point of view and never try to understand it. And so both end up feeling hurt and unloved/disrespected.
