I assume he hid a piece of metal n had pre planned the shot by telling shell where exactly to shoot him. That way he wasn killed n we see him in last ep

Yeah he put a piece of steel from the rubble that was lying around and put it under his shirt. Thankfully, Shell is good with a gun and he hit him directly on the steel plate.
Eric already explained why shell had to shoot him..... basically the vampires and humans were gonna go against each other....and if that were to happen both parties would suffer great loss and to prevent that there was a need to divert their attention.....in order to make it so that they dont hate each other, eric basically cane up a plan to make a new enemy for both of the species(who is neither human not vamp) and as a result both the vamp and human species let go of their hatred for each other and hated eric who was killed by shell
