    There is this part where the MC thinks the doctor is familiar and we see the bartender drawn in the same exact way in the next panel.
    Also at the end, the bartender knows way too much about the partnership program as if he wrote it himself

    It’s kind of an eastern storytelling plot-device, where an almost omnipresent narrator becomes catalyst to the story throughout
    A member of society who interacts fluidly between classes, like a hairdresser who tends to both the elite and average citizens… etc.
    In India we have a history of this plot device in classical drama
    I believe the SE Asian cultures would have it too. But yeah I’ll look it up, food for thought.

    In Indian folktale/science of drama, we call it the Vidushaka
    He mingled with different classes of society or was present in these situations to act like a fourth wall break (not necessarily) who communicated to the audience the esoteric, critical, analytical or philosophical nerve of the story.
