Kinda. Even though he's scared of Ml, he still likes the affection he gets from him. He has trauma and didn't feel so 'good/happy' in a few years and Ml is the reason he has those 'good' moments now (like he could go to the theatre without worrying about money).
So it's easier to fall in Ml trap (manipulation)
That's what happens when someone is so cut off from affection. The dad is dead, the brother is sucking the family dry from money and the mother can't get her shit together and worse help the older brother at the expense of the youngest.
He is lonely, have no social safety net and isolated from everyone. He is a perfect target for abusers because he is so starved for care and affection that any insignificant gesture looks like a demonstration of love to him.
