And it's not only the toxicity, I feel like all the characters become less likable these days too. One of the big pros of Yaoi imo was the mc being relatable but these days, they're either dumb af, shallow or an asshole. The semes have always been kinda questionable, so that's nothing new I guess but these days it feels like they're mean for no reason. Also it's been ages since I read something with two nice people in a healthy relationship :(
It's because authors are there to make money and they adapt their writing style to what the audience wants to read. So, simply a law of demand and supply.

Agree! Nowadays is very difficult to find any good manha that doesn't involve any rape/molestation/torture/abuse/toxicity. And trying to normalized it, where redemption part of a abuser is practically non existing.

Why do bl authors toxicity in their stories increase with their new works? Same as the author of viewfinder, their next work became so dark. Maybe it is some ppls cup of tea but I just wanna read bl with good pretty art and cute plot :(( I can't even stop reading bcs I like the art sm xD anyway has anyone got recommendations for me?
