I get the feeling that she left too soon. The vassals were talking and her father had not responded. I'm guessing it has to do with the plot and making way for
gross misunderstandings which could have been easily avoided.

This is exactly what happens. It sours their relationship a bit more, but it does get resolved within the first 20 chapters. There’s so much going on though that it doesn’t become the central focus of the plot.
