I really loved how the plot was different, but I really am disappointed with our FL.
I know she had a very abusive past that tormented her physically, mentally and psychologically. But I adore and admire any individual who, no matter their past, they don’t let their past control them. And if they’re hunted still by their past then they get rid of it to eliminate the “rotten meat”.
I even much prefer other stories of MCs fighting back no matter how little against their oppressors. I believe in the idea that if someone wants to harm you, but you don’t have the power to fight back. Then, I might as well die bringing them with me in the afterlife.
As petty and chaotic that may sound, the reason our FL is still being pushed around by her oppressors is because instead of forming a “back bone” or fighting force while she’s being abused, she went to the other route of being so depressed, etc.
I know this statement might sound wrong to other people because I know everyone has different ways to cope to different situations. ESPECIALLY ABUSE!
I just sometimes feel so angered by how she indulged still those people insulting and abusing her when she has all those capabilities to protect and stop her sufferings.
The saying really is true,
“Having great power, but not having the mentality matching that power is a curse”
