yasss basically (as it is very obvious) the ML does have ulterior motives; he uses bribes and other illegal activities to succeed in his career (i think, i skimmed some of this stuff when i read the novel) and he has a sort of underground sex dungeon (if u will lmao) where he hosts sex parties for the rich and powerful. the mc’s dead best friend had an interest in the ML and the ML went along with it because he needed dirt on the best friend’s father, so they “dated”. the ML brought the best friend to the sex dungeon and let him get gangr*ped by the other people there. the best friend escapes, spends three days in the woods, and then he kills himself.

the ML (at first) keeps an eye on the MC because he thinks the MC has evidence. however, over time, he slowly becomes obsessed with the MC after spending more time with him (i don’t remember if there’s any specific reason but probably due to his personality, how he plays the violin, his beautiful looks, etc.). the MC becomes just as obsessed back. to solidify the control he has over the MC, the ML starts to emotionally abuse him; one time he “breaks up” with the MC so that the MC comes “crawling back”. another time the MC doesn’t want to blow him so he gets mad and distant and makes the MC begs for a second chance. but he kinda screws himself over, because at some point (i think the exact moment is when the ML sees the MC perform on TV and he is utterly captivated) he falls deeply in love.

the ML has a semi complicated backstory, where he is officially described as a psychopath with no emotions. he was shunned by his father/family growing up and he tries to act like he doesn’t care, but the whole reason he’s doing all of this (the illegal stuff to get more power) is kind of just to prove that even though he’s a psychopath/didn’t receive his father’s love, he is still “worthy”. the MC is the first person he genuinely cares for, and he starts making plans to make the MC completely his. he has this perfect home for the both of them (ironically if i recall correctly it’s the original home of him and his dead fiancé) and he introduces the MC to his mother, the one family member he’s close to.

HOWEVER, in a series of unfortunate events (for the ML), everything starts coming to light. the MC finds out about the home, the truth of the dead fiancé, all the stuff the ML had done behind the MC’s back, the sex dungeon, the truth of the MC’s friend….

and then the MC “tries” to enact revenge. honestly it’s not super satisfying, but in the end the ML goes to jail. he gives up everything for another chance with the MC, the MC tries to get over him but realizes he can’t, and they get back together in the end when he gets out with a lot of trauma and emotional scars. lol the ending and revenge portion of the novel was lackluster (to me) but i really enjoyed the build up.

Wow, thanks for taking the time writing the summary, I guess there's nothing much to expect from this one too (=・ω・=)

i honestly liked the first half a lot though, you get to see the ML play mind games with the MC and then fuck himself over in the process haha

YASSSSS like i said in a previous reply i had so much fun with the first half of the novel, the ML is so manipulative and crazy but he’s also so in obsessed with the MC, he admits the MC is somehow the perfect person for him (matches his tastes in personality and looks 100%) and at one point he’s like “heewon was created for me, god put him on this earth for me” LOL
