I feel it's because he's been telling himself he hates her since he was a kid due to it being a political engagement,in truth he clearly loves her. Still doesn't justify all the torment he put her through
I bet the prince is actually in love with her but is suppressing it because the other girl is part of some scheme and he has to pretend to be in love with her to catch her. If I’m correct y’all owe me hahah
