If that was the case, then Cirrus would sink deeper than he already is. Cirrus has attachment issues and trauma of being left behind. He can't be honest with people because of his trauma, and Skylar is the only person he's met has accepted him for who he truly is and without backhanded concerns and unnecessary pity.
