im assuming he is purposely pushing sihwa away so that it will be less painful for the both of them since sohan isnt planning to leave earth. it was harsh, but people do anything to protect their own feelings and the feelings of the ones they love.
It's likely the case, but it's honestly an overdone trope. I know it's something people do in real life, but it's not the only thing.
