tbh I cannot hate the ml. it's the circumstances that makes him hateful in the story. but from what I see on the guys pov. he was a good guy but fl father overshadow that side of him that's why he have a bad image on the story.
for me they lack communication and interaction that's why they end that way in 1st marriage. there's so many torn in emperor/ml side. 1st. the emperor didn't leave in a peaceful environment. they only teach him to be emperor through and through. 2nd. he likes her when he was still a child but he don't know about how to love someone and she can't trust her because of her father. he can't trully trust the fl coz he knows that fl father is using the fl to get power. it's common to not easily trust someone despite liking her. 3rd. their relationship rift due to her father. he's the solely fault on their 1st marriage and their relationship. Just like the hunting scene where the fl father always stick his nose to where he doesn't belong. her father can't control him. thats why he's blantly showing to ml that fl is his daughter. to threatening him. Just like how there's a blood on flowery crown he put to fl after winning the hunting 4. after their divorce/emperor's die. he was focus to clean up the mess that previous emperor trash. that's why there killing clean up.
The story skip the whole 6 yrs haopen that's why where having the ml a bad image. we only know that time is the fl side.. fl experience or what happen to her. we only know the pov scenario of one side. the ml got bad image of finding her because of the inheritance or will of empress dowager. idk why but I think the reason why he did not find the fl much in the past coz he know that she was not happy in the capital even their marriage. he conclude on himself that she's not happy on their marriage and she didn't have freedom that's why he set her free in the form of divorce after the emperor died so she won't be be a tool for her parents and she'll have the freedom.

FOR ME, the ML didn't do a dinner and dash. the story say that ml use a contraceptive so he won't make the fl get pregnant but sadly the contraceptive lose the effect that's why she got pregnant..Its unexpected events
Why they do the deed? it's because they are husband and wife that time. so it's normal to do it in their marriage the so called honeymoon part. it's like a responsibility after marriage to give yourself to your husband. he likes her that time but maybe he saw the fl wasn't happy with their marriage. and due to the past emperor passing away. it gave him idea to let her go for her freedom before cleaning up some mess in the capital.
the most absurd in the story is that how did the emperor die that time exactly after their marriage.well I guess for plot by the author. but thinking about this in different perspective
if the last emperor didn't die that fast. if ml did not let go fl that time and fl consive theor in the capital where ml live. this might happen on baby theor 1. kidnapping a baby theor, switching, assassinate him or poisoning. 2. can use the child for powers by her dad 3. easily get trick by older nobles like her dad 4. they will hold hostage the child 5. he will experience the trauma and depressing shit past like most story of a crown prince background 6. having a strict teacher. who will hurt or bully him
What good thing does ml letting her go in the past. 1. the child grow up really well 2. he lives 6yrs peaceful and full of happiness. 3. the child grow up knowing what's bad and good 4. he can think freely 6. he did not grow up with nobles people who have hateful spite, disgust and malicious eyes 5. although it happen in the present timeline too, the kidnapping incident but it doesn't change a fact that theor live really well and learn things from her parents and receive full of love. it was a good thing that ml let go of her in the past.
