I don’t hate the uke, this manhwa is good actually

Tbh even though shinwoo cheated, through out the manhwa I still wanted him and sebin to end up together.

And despite his cheating, I never hated him. It just made too much sense, I guess? Shinwoo had always separated his romantic attraction from his sexual acts due to experiencing homophobia. After taesoo caught him with that teacher, he internalized himself as being a “whore”. Although we didn’t see much information on his previous sexual encounters, based on what we saw it was with partners that didn’t respect him. (Additionally, being groomed and having a sexual relationship with a teacher while he was a minor certainly impacted his view of sex. That situation was messed up and I wish the manhwa focused on it more). So it makes sense that shinwoo can love sebin, but rationalize cheating on him.

There’s also considering his relationship with taesoo had been left entirely unresolved. So it makes sense he’d be more inclined to have sex w him, compared to some random guy. And as shinwoo said, he no longer loves taesoo. He sees taesoo as an “good friend”. Although their dynamic through the plot was not healthy, I think each of them were able to finally get closure on their previous falling out/conflict.

Does any of this excuse shinwoo’s behavior? No. But I think it’s important to examine his actions throughout the manhwa with nuance. Hating him is fine, but recognize he acts this way because of his past trauma.

This manhwa definitely isn’t perfect, but I enjoyed reading it and loved the dynamic between all of the main characters. And most importantly it was super entertaining

I would’ve liked it if the author went more in detail and awareness for the trauma but it’s almost not there lmao. And yeah I’ll still hate him, for being a bad partner.

He doesn’t deserve a good partner like Sebin. He needs to work on his trauma first but knowing how a lot of Asian cultures are, not taking therapy seriously, yeah I don’t see him changing anytime soon.

I just wish Sebin the best of luck since he’s choosing to be with someone who’s hurt him. Trauma definitely doesn’t justify cheating. End of story.

It can be explained why he’s like that and more of a reason to stay away from him romance wise.

As for getting together, I don’t want them to end up together because again, cheating is not right at all regardless. Uke doesn’t deserve Sebin until he learns, clearly he hasn’t even till the end.

I’ve only seen Sebin putting a lot of effort in their relationship and just putting up with his annoying personality and cheating. He doesn’t deserve to walk a path with someone who hurt him.

    Sebin is a doormat.

I wish I could go into this story and take Sebin away and send Uke to therapy.

Valid. I can’t even explain why I still wanted them to end up together, cause you’re right sebin is way too good for shinwoo. I think it’s because it’s fictional, that I’m more forgiving for shinwoo’s actions (I also tend to empathize more with the MC in manhwas). you’re right the trauma doesn’t excuse cheating, but it does explain it.

I just think most of the other comments on this manhwa were totally bashing and hating on the uke, and I never hated him. I was definitely frustrated at points, but never hated him. I just think considering his past trauma, his actions made sense. Yes he cheated, which is bad, but considering his past I don’t think he fully conceptualized the consequences of his actions until later on. It wasn’t untill, towards the end, he realized the extent he hurt sebin, and that the damage he caused could never be undone.

Shinwoo definitely needs therapy. I wish more manhwa characters got therapy. Regardless, I think by the end of the manhwa he had gone through some personal growth and was more ready to enter a relationship. By the end of the manhwa, I think shinwoo is at a stage where he wouldn’t cheat again, and is ready to reciprocate affection.

But again hating him is valid, and not wanting him and sebin to end up together is valid.

Thank you for being respectful, I think you’re one of the very few who isn’t biased and judges with clarity.

And to be clear, I hate the uke for being a bad partner, but as a person he’s not bad and like you said—he has trauma and isn’t a resolved one either. He’s still a person at the end.

I think it was sudden that he wants to reciprocate affection. And the fact that it was right after he slept with the 2nd ML makes it feel less sincere. The timing wasn’t right, I would’ve believed him had he not gone any further with the 2nd ML.

I still think he sees sex and love as separate, but at the same time he knows it’s wrong. It’s quite confusing. I haven’t read this in a while so I may have forgotten some things.
