lol the hell? it's just a few added details and more rendering, i went back on the previous chapters again, it looks the same but in the past it had less shading which is fine. there's no change in 'art style', there was no drastic changes on the features that made look different from before. this is more of an improvement.

Oh, it's definitely an improvement. If it's the same artist, then they've definitely upped their game at rendering and shading, objectively speaking. But subjectively speaking - and the subject being the story itself - it does not align with the narrative because the narrative is extremely dark.
For example, color psychology (not theory, but psychology) exists to choose appropriate shades of colors and ambient light that's meant to cause appropriate emotions for appropriate scenes. And in my opinion, with the new season, that's one of the vocal points that does not hit the mark with the story.
At the end of the day, you are more than welcome to have and express your opinions, much like how I expressed mine. If you and whoever else enjoys the new art, then I'm happy for you.
Mhm. I just find it weird and confusing. If you actually look back on the previous chapters, there's really no change at all with the ambient or the color the artists used to set the mood, the author still applies the same method as he did in the previous season. And I was thinking maybe you thought things were off because the artist has made the lighting and shadows more noticable now. If you look again with how the characters are rendered, you can clearly see the highlights pop off more, compared to how they were drawn before with shadows more visible. I'm just pointing out its not a change of art style and there were no changes in how the author sets the mood of each panel, just that since with the art is more detailed with a little bit of semi realism on the rendering, the characters comes into focus more and appear more brightly. Look into the panel where the character was in a dark room having s*x, its a good enough example i think.

The new art style is extremely unfitting. It's beautiful, of course it is and hell I even wish I could draw like that but is it the best artistic choice for a visual novel that's supposed to tell a very rough story about two characters who quite literally have prices for their heads? In my opinion, no it's not.
In mangas, manhwas, manhuas and so forth, what cannot be portrayed with words is portrayed through the art. That is why they are called "visual novels." And this novel in particular has tackled some heavy-duty topics and narratives that aren't unrealistic at all. And the previous art style visually complimented and enhanced that grimness and the true heaviness of what the characters were going through, instead of taking away from it.
So, I don't know whose decision it was to change the art so drastically, I only hope the author wasn't pressured into it by management of some sort. Because if it was purely the author's choice, then at least we can respect it and decide for ourselves whether to continue reading or not. Personally, I don't know yet. I loved the story, and so far, the first few chapters feel very cheap plot-wise too. I can only say my thanks to Juju for uploading it still and giving us a chance to explore whatever's left to explore of this narrative for free. The rest I guess I'll see as the time moves forward.
