Yeah lol tbh I thought I’d only get a ton of dislikes because I know it’s an unpopular opinion and I’m big whinging (no one needs to know my negative opinions lol) but I just can’t help but think of real people who this has happened to when I read this. It’s not like I have an issue separating reality from fiction, Doesn’t happen with other stories. That’s a testament to how good the writing and art is I guess. It incites anger at seeing what happened to seven and the boys around him but omg I cannot handle, I am running away. This is one of the few good ones where abuse isn’t romanticised or sexualised and also has a genuine romance and doesn’t fall into cliche BL pitfalls (maybe because the author is male).
I’ve tried to read this multiple times now and I just cannot get through it whatsoever. When it first came out I was reading chapter by chapter but by the time I get to chapter 11 I find it all so severely nauseating I cannot continue. I find it rare to read something I can’t stomach but I just…I can’t get through this one at all. It so physically nauseating. The way it’s written and drawn makes me feel like I’m looking at real people, like I’m physically in the room with them and I just want to vomit. I’ve tried to read this so many times because I’m sure the story is amazing but fuck…I just cannot. I’m so shocked I’m having such a visceral reaction to this story. I’ve never experienced this before and no one else seems to be either. Like every time I read this real world crimes start flashing in my head and it’s all I can think about before I start to want to vom.
Anyway if u like this story I think u would like some of my other faves:
Canis the speaker (scanlation incomplete. Official release on the way): 3 orphans. 1 is a victim of sex trafficking. 2 are adopted into loving families. This is a story about love, abuse and revenge.
Maria Boy: 2 boys, one who seems to struggle with his identity and another who just loves him for who he is.
Gift (ichinose yuma): a gay man picks up a stray and teaches him to box. Boxer had a lot of very bad things happen to him, he struggles to cope with stress and regulate emotions. I think this manga shows compartmentalisation due to trauma in a really interesting way.
All 3 stories deal with overcoming traumas caused by CSA so be warned. But considering these r some of my favourite stories I’m just shocked I have to abandon this one because I CANT FUCKING READ IT WITHOUT WANTING TO THROW UP!
