Why is eating while studying bad?

I've heard eating while watching tv is bad because you lose trackand eat too much, so maybe that's it?

For funnsies, I googled: You find literally nothing about this, so I call bull. XD

The only stuff that comes up is that snacking is USEFUL because it helps concentrate and get your system going to help your head function.

maybe it's one of those REALLY old sayings that stuck around in the land of origin of these characters? I can see that being the case. maybe the meaning even changed with translating it (since some sayings do not make sense when translated word for word, they have a depper meaning, like an analogy sometimes almsot).

I remember being told as a kid (my father too already tho): Don't eat cherry seeds by mistake, or else a tree will grow in your belly!

Or stuff like: If you swallow gum, it'll stay in your belly FOREVER!
