I think it's fair that people might have been drawn into the story, but dislike the violence, rape, mutilation etc. because those are huge turn offs. It isn't really about reading comprehension, since it's a story that's supposed to be turning people on at the end of the day ¯_(ツ)_/¯ It ain't that deep
It even makes me feel a little sick to my stomach, and I liked twisted romance stories

I would rather read Under Grand Hotel again.
