I think Dan's grandma died.. This is the perfect timimg for that.
Dan is probably already on the floor now that the gym/JK thought he was a spy, and eventhough it turned out to be a lie, nobody apologized to him yet.

    Also this is probably why the coach got angry and slapped JK when he said that he feels like sht now.. Because Dan definitely feels worse now
